- Tell us a little about yourself

I'm a British artist living in NYC. I divide my time between painting,
drawing and Interior Design.

- How did you get into illustration?

An editor at Penguin asked me to illustrate a story for a new
side-line company producing e-books for children. Then that led to a
second book....

- What inspires you?

The list is vast!! To name a few: The life and work of Philip Guston,
topiary gardens, antique rugs from Double Knot in Tribeca below the
studio where I work, the gloaming hour, the lyrics to 'Take This
Waltz' by Leonard Cohen, driving solo late at night, Tracey Emins
columns for The Independent, the sea.

- What drew you to collaborating with BEX ROX

Working with a designer who strongly stands by her unique style.

- When you think of BEX ROX you think of....

Positive energy captured. Bex has a magical ability to absorb culture
and her surroundings and channel this through beautifully crafted,
dynamic BEX ROX jewelry. I also think of having lots of fun, it's
impossible not to ;)

- What is your favorite BEX ROX piece?

Currently it's the Black Onyx Necklace. Chic and timeless

- Being in illustrating means you can travel with your job yes? Is
there anywhere in particular that you love to go for work?

Yes, I can pretty much work anywhere although I love to go to places
specifically connected to a project. I am planning trips to the San
Blas Islands to meet with Moon-children and then Cappadocia, I have
ideas in the pipeline for both.

- Favorite place to travel

The Cyclades, because they remind me of my childhood

- You can't leave the house without...

Having a cup of tea first

- Your favorite quotes are...

Here are two I discovered early this year and fell in love with:

"Never put off till tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just
as well." Mark Twain

“Don't worry about losing. If it is right, it happens - The main thing is not to hurry. Nothing good gets away.” John Steinbeck

Bex Meets.... Katherine Schwarzenegger

Katherine Schwarzenegger is the eldest of three children, and recently graduated from the University of Southern California with a Communications Degree. She released her first book in 2010, entitled Rock What You've Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who's Been There and Back

Tell me a little bit about yourself...
I am Katherine, I am a daughter, sister, friend, author, recent college graduate, host to my lifestyle website (katherineschwarzenegger.com), animal lover, people lover, voice for my generation, and most importantly a young woman trying to find my way in this great big world to the best of my ability.
What is life like as an author?

Life as an author is exciting, unpredictable, challenging at times, and a huge privilege. The ability to be able to write about things that I am interested in and passionate about is a gift.
Did you always want to write?
I always enjoyed writing, but never thought it would be part of my career. I have tons of journals from when I was little and they are amazing to have now and be able to look back on what I was thinking about and how I felt at all the different phases of my life. My parents always had us write in our journals at the end of every day when we were on family vacation, so we could remember the cool and special places we had visited. I remember not loving the idea of having to write about every detail of my day at the end of every night, but whenever I would argue my mom would always say "you will be thankful you have it when you're older" and naturally she was right.
Do you have any tips to aspiring authors out there on how to get into journalism and having your work published?
Writing about something you are passionate about is key. People can always tell when you are writing just to write or when you have feeling and passion behind your writing. I would also say that so much of getting noticed as a writer comes from social media and taking a risk to blindly reach out to people and ask for a job or opportunity to do something. You would be surprised how many people get their start by doing things like that.
What inspires you?
I think life in general inspires me. There are so many things I see, people I meet, and words that I hear that inspire me. I find that I am inspired at times when I least expect it. I love being able to witness random acts of kindness and people just being good to one another because thats what really inspires me to be a better person.

When did you first hear or see Bex Rox?
I first heard and saw Bex Rox from my dear friend Ashley who had gotten some of the jewelry for her friend. She showed me the gold necklace to me and I knew instantly it would be a great piece of jewelry to have to spice up any outfit, and it does.

What is your favourite Bex Rox piece?

I would say my favorite is the Mia Collar in gold. I wear mine all the time.

Favourite holiday destination?
I like going somewhere cold in the winter and warm in the summer, I enjoy going along with the seasons since we don't really have seasons in LA. I can't think of a specific place but I usually love going wherever I can be with my family.
When you think of Bex Rox....
I think of chic, easy, beautiful jewelry that will add the 'pop' to any outfit.

Thanks Katherine!
